My Favourite Colour

My favourite colour is 

purple

in particular, wine, or plum, a deep purple with red undertones. Like the colour of this font, I guess.

WHY?

What is the significance of one's favourite colour and why how does one even come to have a "favourite?"

Well, according to the article, 

'Why Blue Is the World’s Favourite Colour,'

by Abigail Cain, the author claims that a person’s preference for a given colour is determined by "averaging out how much that person likes all of the objects they associate with that colour." This means that I like purple because I subconsciously associate the colour with positive things in my life. Additionally, the colour purple is that of royalty. It symbolizes power, nobility, luxury, and ambition and conveys wealth and extravagance. About 2 centuries ago, only the weathly could afford to buy and wear purple, so it became associated with the imperial classes of civilisations, such as the Roman, Persian and Egyptian civilisation. Additionally, during the elizabethan age, the Sumptuary Laws forbid anyone but close relatives of the royal family to wear purple, thus showing the power of the colour. I really like it and have designed my room in the colours white and purple, which are both my favourite.
